Maharashtra: Disaster rained from the sky in Nagpur on Friday night. In fact, due to heavy rains since Friday night, many areas of the city have been flooded and the situation is such that the administration has also become active with the deployment of NDRF and SDRF to save the people. Due to heavy rains, many roads of Nagpur turned into rivers and a large number of people had to be taken to safe places.
According to the Meteorological Department, 106 mm of rain was recorded at Nagpur airport till 5.30 am. Many areas of Nagpur have been submerged due to heavy rains and roads have been flooded. In view of the situation, the administration has declared school holidays. Maharashtra Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis wrote in a post shared on social media that it is raining continuously, due to which Ambazari Lake is overflowing. The low lying area around it is greatly affected. There is waterlogging situation at many places in other parts of the city also. Let us tell you that Deputy CM Fadnavis is also from Nagpur.
The Deputy CM has directed Nagpur Collector, Municipal Corporation Commissioner and Police Commissioner to immediately rescue the people stranded at some places. NDRF and SDRF teams have also been deployed. Due to heavy rains, houses located in low-lying areas of Nagpur have been flooded. People have been evacuated to safe places in Ambazari Lake area. NDRF team has safely rescued six people from Ambazari area. Operation is still going on to save people in flood affected areas. There is flood situation in Ramdaspeth area of Nagpur also due to heavy rains.
