A seminar has organised to make aware of the women sexual harrasment at workplace.

Chamoli: Under the Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal Act of Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace, a seminar was organized by the District Legal Services Authority Chamoli with departmental officers in the court premises, Gopeshwar on Tuesday. Civil Judge/Secretary of District Legal Services Authority Simranjit Kaur gave detailed information to the departmental officers about the provisions of the Act and the process of action.

Giving information regarding harassment of women at workplace, the Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority said that under the Act, it is necessary to constitute an Internal Complaint Committee in the departments. At the same time, a provision has been made to take the complaint in 06 copies and after investigation recommend action and send the report to higher officials. He said that in the Act, if the accused is found guilty, there is a provision for punishment like suspension along with fine. He asked all the officers to form committees at the departmental level and regularly submit annual reports to the District Magistrate’s office and to publicize the Act.
