Home guard soldiers will also be join mountaineering for the first time in the state.

Dehradun: Home Guards of the state will also climb the Himalayas and Mount Everest now, Commandant General Home Guard I.G Kewal Khurana has invited applications from all the District Home Guard Commandants the Home Guards who willing to join the mountaineering team.

A team will be formed and training will be given at Nehru Mountaineering Institute (NIM), Uttarkashi, and Home Guards will be recognized not only in the state and country but also across the world. IG Kewal Khurana is continuously making efforts to strengthen the home guards of the state. Now IG Khurana has started the initiative to form a mountaineering team of Home Guards.

Uttarakhand will be the first state in the country in which a mountaineering team of Home Guards will be formed for the first time. This initiative has not been started in any state before. Young home guards of the state will be included in this mountaineering team. IG Khurana has issued instructions to all the district commandants of the state.

The instructions have been given to receive applications from interested home guards of their respective districts and send them to Dehradun headquarters. Home guards have also started applications. They will be selected after receiving the applications. After this they will be given training. Uttarakhand will become the first state in the country which will have a mountaineering team of Home Guards. 30 to 35 soldiers will be included in this team.
