District Panchayat meeting was full of uproar, members sat down on the floor on strike.

Chamoli : The meeting of district Panchayat Chamoli, started with uproar on Tuesday in its counciling hall. Angered by the non-payment of contractors and salaries to Zilla Panchayat employees for two months, Zilla Panchayat members started a dharna in the House itself. The members also expressed their displeasure over the District Magistrate and CDO not attending the meeting.

District Panchayat President Rajni Bhandari also expressed strong displeasure over this. The members raised slogans against the Panchayati Raj Department. At the same time, CDO Abhinav Shah arrived at 12:31 in the afternoon. He has assured to resolve the payment problem by Wednesday.

District Panchayat member Avtar Pundir said that payment for the construction work has not been made for two months. There is no regular deployment of EME and Assistant Engineer in the District Panchayat, due to which the work of the District Panchayat is hampered.
