Garhwali Mother Language Day, has celebrated at P.G.College Gopeshwar.
Chamoli: On the occasion of International Mother Language Day, Garhwali Mother Language Day was celebrated with great pomp on Wednesday at Government Post Graduate College, Gopeshwar.
The program has organized by the English Department, as a chief speaker, Principal in-charge Prof. Chandrawati Joshi said that every language is important hence there is a need to cherish it.
The keynote speaker of the program, Assistant Professor of Hindi Department, Dr. Digpal Singh Kandari said that languages play an important role in the preservation of culture. Program co-ordinator, Assistant Professor Darshan Singh Negi, in-charge of English Department, said that Garhwali is a rich language but at present the number of Garhwali speakers is continuously decreasing which is a matter of concern. He called for the new generation to use Garhwali language more and more in daily life.
The students have enthralled everyone with their Garhwali songs, poems, stories, proverbs and dance presentations, in this program.
