Polio immunization medicine will be administered to more than 38k children of the district on 3 March.

Chamoli: Under the National Pulse Polio Immunization Campaign, polio immunization dose will be administered to 38,335 children aged zero to 5 years at 603 booths in the district on Sunday, 3 March 2024.

Polio doses will be given to the children door to door, left behind on March 04 and 05. Regarding the successful operation of the polio immunization campaign and necessary arrangements, Additional District Magistrate Vivek Prakash held a meeting of the District Task Force Committee in the Collectorate Auditorium on Monday and gave instructions to deliver polio doses to all the children aged zero to 5 years.

ADM said that everyone’s participation is necessary to ensure that no child between zero and five years of age is deprived of polio immunization dose. He also asked voluntary organizations including departments of education, social welfare, child development, energy, transport, police etc. to cooperate in this campaign of national importance. Officials were asked to do wide publicity of polio immunization program from door to door up to the every village level through village heads and regional public representatives.

Anganwadi centers and Panchayat buildings which have been converted into polio booths, shall open on 3rd March and ensure necessary arrangements there. Additional District Magistrate said that it should be ensured that polio doses are delivered to the children of laborers engaged in NH, BRO, THDC, NTPC and other construction works.

The Chief Medical Officer said that a total of 608 polio immunization booths including 5 transit booths have been made to administer polio doses. A target has been set to administer polio drops to 38,335 children in these booths on March 03. 238 observers have been deployed for the successful conduct of this campaign. At the same time, 2432 health workers have been appointed at the booths. Transit teams will be placed at major stations Karnaprayag, Tharali, Joshimath, Chamoli and Gopeshwar. He has appealed to all departments for cooperation in conducting this campaign.
