More than Ten Thousand post of permanent teachers are vacant in state.
Dehradun: There are 10,946 vacancies of permanent teachers in the hill districts of the state, while 6,632 posts are for secondary and 4,314 for basic education out of it. Even after the enactment of the Transfer Act for transparent transfers, teachers couldn’t be available for the schools of mountain areas, the reason of it is being told, that the delay in recruitment from the State Public Service and Subordinate Services Selection Commission.
During the Question Hour in the Assembly of the state, Education Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat was asked by MLA Sanjay Doval on the question of shortage of teachers in the hilly districts of the state. Education minister Rawat told that, 4,253 posts of lecturers and 2,379 posts of assistant teachers LT are vacant in the hilly districts. In contrast to these vacant posts, 2,594 guest teachers are working on the post of lecturer and 1,123 guest teachers are working on the post of assistant teacher.
There are no headmaster in 45 upper primary schools, and in basic education, 516 primary schools and 45 upper primary schools do not have headmasters at the present time. There are 3,253 vacancies of assistant teachers in primary schools and 500 posts of assistant teachers in upper primary schools. Education Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat said, the number of vacant posts of teachers keeps changing from time to time in the districts due to retirement, promotion, transfer etc.
