A famous environmentalist has passed away at the age of 91.

Chamoli: Murari Lal 91, a famous environmentalist, resident of village Papadiyana Chamoli, and a leading figure in the Chipko movement, has passed away at 4 A.M Friday morning.

He was admitted to AIIMS Rishikesh for the last three days due to breathing problems. He breathed his last during treatment at around 4 am on Friday. His last rites will be performed on Saturday morning at his ancestral ghat on the banks of Alaknanda.

The life of Late Murari Lal was dedicated to social service, he was active in social activities, even a few days before his death. Chipko movement pioneer Chandi Prasad Bhatt and many other public representator expressed their grief over the death of Murari Lal.
