Chamoli: Birth Waiting Home/Worth Waiting Home was established in Community Health Center block Nanda Nagar. Under the National Maternal Health Program, Birth Waiting Home has been established with the objective of promoting institutional delivery and providing the facility of Birth Waiting Home/Worth Waiting Home to pregnant women of remote areas before the expected date of delivery.

Dr. Rajivr Sharma, Chief medical officer, district Chamoli said that the objective of setting up Birth Waiting Home is to ensure timely safe delivery and reduce maternal mortality rate. He said that some women approach the hospital right during labor pain. Due to which there is a possibility of delivery on the way as well as danger to the mother and child. He appealed to the people of development block Nanda Nagar to get the pregnant woman admitted to the hospital 08 to 10 days before the delivery date, so that all her tests can be done and her safe institutional delivery can be done. He said that proper arrangements have been made for food, drink and stay of the pregnant woman in the birth waiting home.
