Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri’s birth anniversary was celebrated with great pomp.

Chamoli: On the occasion of birth anniversary of of two great leader of country, Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri, Sandeep Tiwari, District Magistrate Chamoli, honoured social workers, employees and environmental friends who made special contribution and cooperation in the Swachhata Hi Seva programme on 2nd October.

The birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi and the country’s former Prime Minister Late Lal Bahadur Shastri was celebrated with reverence and gaiety in the entire district including crossed the country. The national flag was hoisted in all government buildings, offices and institutions.

District Magistrate Sandeep Tiwari unveiled the pictures of Bapuji and Shastriji and garlanded them in the district office premises. During this, Bapu was remembered by singing his favourite hymn Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram. Throwing light on the personality and deeds of Bapu and Shastriji, the District Magistrate administered the Swachhata Pledge along with taking a pledge to follow the life ideals of great men. During this, the martyrs were saluted by garlanding the Shaheed Smarak.

The District Magistrate, Tiwari, said that Bapu, who walked on the path of non-violence and truth throughout his life, not only taught the lesson of humanity to the entire human race but also taught the right way to live life. Bapu, while dreaming of a clean India, gave an excellent message to the nation by providing education to the people around him regarding maintaining cleanliness. Today, in the changing lifestyle, we should follow the ideals of Bapu for cleanliness.

Under the nationwide campaign ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’, a massive cleanliness campaign was run in all the gram panchayats and urban areas of Chamoli district from 14 September to 02 October 2024. In line with the instructions of the Hon’ble Chief Minister, the District Magistrate honored the social workers, employees and environmental friends who made special cooperation and contribution in the Swachhata Hi Seva program organized by Nagar Palika Gopeshwar.
