CM Dhami turned strict on road accident safety, intensive checking campaign will follow.

Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, has instructed the Transport Commissioner’s Office to conduct intensive checking campaigns across the state to prevent road accidents. In the issued instructions, has ordered to conduct checking campaigns every month. The checking campaign, strict action will be followed against over-peeding, overloading and drunk driving of vehicles.

Sanat Kumar Singh, Joint Transport Commissioner has issued a letter to Divisional Transport Officers, Assistant Divisional Transport Officers, Transport Tax Officers and all Divisional Inspectors, two major bus accidents in 2018 and 2022, including the recent bus accident in Almora, was also mention in the letter. The additional buses should be operated with the cooperation of roadways for the local villagers returning to their work after festivals, fairs and holidays, this one also mention in the letter.

Special checking campaigns should also be conducted on the occasion of tourism, pilgrimage and wedding season. The action should be taken especially against overloading of vehicles. During weekends i.e. Saturday and Sunday, people travel in large numbers to Dehradun, Mussoorie and Nainital and other tourist places and return late in the evening or at night, said joint tranceport commissioner.

If there are technical problems in the vehicles during the inspection and faulty vehicles are being operated, then the fitness of such vehicles should be cancelled immediately. Enforcement action should be taken on all routes from time to time. At the time of fitness check of vehicles at the Automated Testing Station, under run protection, reflector, speed governor in the vehicles should be strictly checked.
