Political parties were made aware about the prescribed rate chart for election expenditure accounting

Chamoli: Under the chairmanship of Additional District Election Officer, Vivek Prakash, held a meeting Thursday in the border district Chamoli with the officials of political parties, assistant expenditure observers and officers in charge of the constituted accounting team regarding the Municipal Local Body General Election-2024.

After everyone’s consent discussing the rates of the prescribed rate chart prepared in the meeting at the prevailing market rates for election expenditure accounting.

In the meeting, Chief Treasurer / Nodal Officer Expenditure Accounts Mamur Jahan has provided detailed information regarding the preparation of accounts of the candidates contesting the election. He informed that the maximum expenditure limit for the Nagar Palika President up to 10 wards is Rs 6 lakh and the expenditure limit for the post of President in a Nagar Palika with more than 10 wards is Rs 8 lakh.

The expenditure limit for the ward member of the Municipal Council is Rs 80 thousand. Similarly, the maximum expenditure limit for the Nagar Panchayat President has been fixed at Rs 3 lakh and for the member Nagar Panchayat Rs 50 thousand. He informed that the candidates who spend more than this in the election will be declared ineligible even after winning.

The Chief Treasurer has also gave information to all the candidates regarding preparing the expenditure statement for each day from the date of nomination till the declaration of election results. He informed that the candidate will ensure to obtain the prescribed register for the election expenditure statement, which is certified by the Election Officer/Assistant Election Officer, after the prescribed time for withdrawal of nomination. The election expenditure statement register will have to be compulsorily submitted to the Panchsthan office of the district within 30 days of declaration of election results.
