The cultivation of Lily, is increasing the income of farmers of district.

Chamoli: The trend of farmers towards the cultivation of lily has started increasing in Chamoli. Under the schemes run by the Horticulture Department in the district, currently 21 farmers are earning lakhs of rupees by cultivating lily.

To see the growing possibilities in the Lily cultivation, other farmers are also keen on producing lily. If the departmental officials are to be believed, till date more than 40 farmers have applied for lily production in the district.

Lilium flower is used for decoration in bouquets as well as weddings, parties and ceremonies. Due to which there is a better demand for lily flowers in the market. A petal of the flower easily gets a price of 50 to 100 rupees in the market. In view of the better market of the flower, the Horticulture Department Chamoli encouraged the farmers for the lily production at 80 percent subsidy from the District Plan item.

Last year, lily sticks worth about 5 lakh 50 thousand were marketed in 26 playhouse of 21 progressive farmers. This year, 35 thousand bulbs were planted by the farmers. By marketing them, the farmers have earned an income of about 7 lakh 50 thousand. Seeing the profit in marketing lily, now other farmers in the district have also started showing interest in this.

Assistant Development Officer at Horticulture Department Raghuveer Singh Rana told that farmers are seeking information about lily production in large numbers. At the same time, applications have been given by more than 40 farmers in the district.


For the first time, the department arranged marketing for the flowers produced in Chamoli. Now, the farmers have prepared a channel for marketing of flowers with the help of the department. Farmers told that there is a huge demand for their flowers in Ghazipur Mandi. He said that earlier, due to lack of proper marketing system for flowers, the farmers were hesitant about producing flowers. But now, due to the marketing system, flower production is proving to be profitable.

चमोली: उत्तराखंड के सीमांत जनपद चमोली में लीलियम की खेती को लेकर काश्तकारों का रुझान बढ़ने लगा है। जिले में उद्यान विभाग की ओर से संचालित योजनाओं के तहत वर्तमान में 21 काश्तकार लीलियम की खेती कर लाखों की आय अर्जित कर रहे हैं। जिससे अब अन्य काश्तकार पर भी लीलियम उत्पादन को लेकर उत्सुक हैं। विभागीय अधिकारियों की मानें तो जनपद में वर्तमान तक 40 से अधिक किसान लीलियम उत्पादन के लिए आवेदन कर चुके हैं।

लीलियम का फूल गुलदस्ते के साथ ही शादी, विवाह, पार्टी और समारोह में भी सजावट के लिए उपयोग किया जाता है। जिससे लिलियम के फूल की बाजार में बेहतर मांग है। फूल की एक पंखुड़ी की बाजार में 50 से 100 रुपये तक की कीमत आसानी से मिल जाती है। ऐसे में फूल के बेहतर बाजार को देखते हुए उद्यान विभाग चमोली ने जिला योजना मद से 80 फीसदी सब्सिडी पर लीलियम उत्पादन के लिए काश्तकारों को प्रोत्साहित किया। जिसके चलते बीते वर्ष 21 प्रगतिशील काश्तकारों के 26 पॉलीहाउस में करीब 5 लाख 50 हजार की लीलियम स्टिक का विपणन किया । वहीं इस वर्ष काश्तकारों की ओर 35 हजार बल्ब का रोपण किया गया था। जिसका विपणन कर काश्तकार करीब 7 लाख 50 हजार की आय अर्जित कर चुके हैं। लीलियम का विपणन में हो रहे मुनाफे को देखते हुए अब जनपद में अन्य काश्तकारों का भी इस ओर रुझान बढ़ने लगा है।

उद्यान विभाग के सहायक विकास अधिकारी रघुवीर सिंह राणा का कहना है कि काश्तकारों ओर से जहां बड़ी संख्या में लीलियम उत्पादन को लेकर जानकारी ली जा रही है। वहीं जनपद में 40 से अधिक काश्तकारों की ओर से आवेदन दिए गए हैं।


चमोली में उत्पादित फूलों के विपणन के लिये जहां पहली बार विभाग की ओर से विपणन की व्यवस्था की गई। वहीं अब काश्तकारों ने विभाग के सहयोग से फूलों के विपणन का चैनल तैयार कर लिया है। काश्तकारों ने बताया कि उनके फूल की मांग गाजीपुर मंडी में बड़े पैमाने पर है। उन्होंने कहा कि पूर्व में फूलों की विपणन की समुचित व्यवस्था न होने से फूलों का उत्पादन करने से काश्तकार में शंका रहती थी। लेकिन अब विपणन की व्यवस्था होने के चलते फूलों का उत्पादन लाभप्रद साबित हो रहा है।


लिली के नाम से पुकारे जाने फूल का वैज्ञानिक नाम लिलियम है। यह लिलीयस कुल का पौधा है। यह 6 पंखुड़ी वाला सफेद, नारंगी, पीले, लाल और गुलाबी रंगों का फूल होता है। जापान में सफेल लिली को सौभाग्य का प्रतीक माना जाता है। वहीं नारंगी लिली को वृद्धि और उत्साह का प्रतीक माना जाता। लिली के पौधे अर्द्ध कठोर होता है। इसके फूल कीप के आकार के होते हैं। इस का उपयोग सजावट के साथ ही सौंदर्य प्रसाधनों के निर्माण में भी किया जाता है। भारत में इसके फूल ऋतु में उगाए जाते हैं। उद्यान विशेषज्ञों के अनुसार पॉलीहाउस में फूल 70 दिनों में उपयोग के लिये तैयार हो जाता है।
