Dehradun: The state government of Uttarakhand has issued an order for reservation in three-tier panchayats in the state. Reservation for SC, ST and OBC will not exceed than 50 percent. Seven posts in district panchayats, 48 in area panchayat chief and 3909 posts for the post of head in gram panchayats will be reserved for women. The final publication of reservation proposals will be done on 18 June 2025.
According to the government order issued for reservation in panchayats, reservation on posts and places for the 2025 elections of three-tier panchayats in 12 districts of the state will be determined on the basis of the 2011 census. Two posts for Scheduled Castes and two for Other Backward Classes will be reserved for the post of District Panchayat President.
Three posts for Scheduled Tribes, 18 post for Scheduled Castes and 15 for Other Backward Classes will be reserved for the posts of Area Panchayat Chief. Whereas 226 posts have been reserved for Scheduled Tribes, 1467 for Scheduled Castes and 1250 for Other Backward Classes for the posts of Gram Panchayat Pradhan.

This formula adopted for reservation. According to the formula fixed for reservation in Panchayats, the number of concerned castes in the state has been divided by the total population and multiplied by the total number of President posts.
