Least aged candidate won the election of village head ever recorded.

Chamoli: The results of the three-tier panchayat elections are coming out today on Thursday in all districts (beside Haridwar) of hill state Uttarakhand. Meanwhile, an interesting contest was seen for the post of Pradhan(village head) in district Chamoli.

There was a close contest between two candidates here. The winner was declared for the post of village head (gram Pradhan) by toss. Nitin, who is studying MA in Economics from P.G college Gopeshwar, was elected by toss. Four candidates were in the fray in Gram Panchayat Bandwara. A total of 383 votes were cast. Nitin got 138 and Ravindra got 138 votes. In the first phase of counting, the matter was tied at 9 am. Then the toss was done at 10:30 am, in which Nitin won.

Nitin is associated with NSUI and was the General Secretary of the Students Union in Gopeshwar PG College in 2022-23. Nitin’s unexpected victory has brought enthusiasm among the village and his supporters.

Rajni Devi and Kuldeep Singh got 72-72 votes for the post of Pradhan of Gram Panchayat Kot in Narayanbagh. After that the counting of votes was done again. In which Rajni Devi got 73 votes and Kuldeep Singh got 72 votes. In this way Rajni Devi won the election by one vote.
