Road Safety Month campaign has initiated in the district, will be run by 15 February.

Chamoli: In the view of the prevention of road accidents, the District Magistrate has inaugurated the Road Safety Month campaign in the district on Friday, the campaign will be run till February 15, 2025. This campaign has been started under the aegis of the Transport Department to prevent road accidents in district Chamoli and to make the general public aware of traffic rules.

District Magistrate Sandeep Tiwari has flagged off the awareness van for the all blocks of district, and said that the road safety van would go to all the development blocks of the district and make people aware of safe traffic rules. This van has eye specialist as well as all modern equipment for eye examination, due to which the eye diseases of the drivers and the general public will be checked free of cost on the spot and free glasses will also be provided to the drivers above 60 years of age. This initiative would prove beneficial for the marginal district Chamoli. This will help in the prevention of road accidents, DM Tiwari said.

Jyoti Shankar Mishra, District Transport Officer, said that the awareness van will travel throughout the month in all the blocks and remote areas of the district to throw awareness about traffic rules to the people. He said that people will be given all the information about safe traffic rules including not overloading vehicles, wearing helmets while driving two-wheelers, not driving after drinking alcohol, not driving over speeding and while talking on mobile, wearing seat belts. Free eye check-up of drivers will also be done by setting up camps in all areas through the van.

District Transport Officer, Mishra has also appealed to the parents not to allow children below 18 years of age to drive vehicles. All drivers should follow the traffic rules completely so that road accidents do not happen. The Transport Officer said that it is our duty to help the injured person in road accidents. The Good Samaritan who helps the injured person in the accident will also be rewarded. He appealed to the people of the district to be a part of the awareness campaign towards road safety and help in making people aware.

चमोली: जनपद चमोली में सड़क दुर्घटनाओं को रोकने और आमजन को यातायात नियमों के प्रति जागरूक करने को लेकर परिवहन विभाग के तत्वाधान में सड़क सुरक्षा माह का शुभारंभ किया गया है। यह अभियान 15 फरवरी तक चलाया जाएगा। जिलाधिकारी संदीप तिवारी ने शुक्रवार को क्लेक्ट्रेट परिसर से सड़क सुरक्षा माह का शुभारंभ करते हुए जागरूकता वैन को हरी झंडी दिखाकर विकासखंडों के लिए रवाना किया।

जिलाधिकारी ने कहा कि सड़क सुरक्षा वैन जिले के सभी विकासखंडों में जाकर सुरक्षित यातायात नियमों के प्रति लोगों को जागरूक करने का काम करेगी। इस वैन में नेत्र विशेषज्ञ के साथ ही आंखों की जांच के लिए सभी आधुनिक उपकरण है। जिससे वाहन चालकों एवं आम जनमानस की नेत्र रोगों की मौके पर ही निःशुल्क जांच की जाएगी और 60 वर्ष से अधिक उम्र के वाहन चालकों को निःशुल्क चश्मा भी उपलब्ध कराया जाएगा। जिलाधिकारी ने कहा कि सीमांत जनपद चमोली के लिए यह पहल लाभदायक सिद्व होगी। इससे सड़क दुर्घटनाओं की रोकथाम में मदद मिलेगी।

जिला परिवहन पदाधिकारी ज्योति शंकर मिश्र ने कहा कि जागरूकता वैन पूरे माह जिले के सभी विकासखंड और सुदूरवर्ती क्षेत्रों में घूम-घूम कर लोगों को यातायात नियमों की जानकारी पहुंचाने का काम करेगी। कहा कि लोगों को वाहनों में ओवर लोडिंग न करने, दुपहिया वाहन चलाते समय हेलमेट पहनने, शराब पीकर वाहन न चलाने, ओवर स्पीड व मोबाइल पर बात करते समय वाहन न चलाने, सीट बेल्ट पहनने सहित सुरक्षित यातायात नियमों की सभी जानकारी दी जाएगी। वैन के माध्यम से सभी क्षेत्रों में शिविर लगाकर वाहन चालकों की आंखों की निःशुल्क जांच भी की जाएगी।

उन्होंने सभी अभिभावकों से अपील भी की है कि 18 वर्ष से कम उम्र के बच्चों को वाहन चलाने की अनुमति न दे। सभी वाहन चालक यातायात नियमों का पूरी तरह पालन करें। ताकि सड़क दुर्घटनाएं न हो। परिवहन अधिकारी ने कहा कि सड़क दुर्घटनाओं में घायल व्यक्ति की मदद करना हम सबका फर्ज है। दुर्घटना में घायल व्यक्ति की मदद करने वाले गुड सेमिरिटन को पुरस्कृत भी किया जाएगा। उन्होंने जनपद वासियों से अपील करते हुए कहा कि सड़क सुरक्षा के प्रति जागरूकता अभियान का हिस्सा बनें और लोगों को जागरूक बनाने में मदद करें।
