Police arrested three accused of Chamoli incident.
Chamoli: A heart wrenching incident was occurred in chamoli district, due to electrocution in the Sewerage Treatment Plant(Namami Gange project), in this case, three accused, 1. the supervisor of the plant, 2. the lineman of the Energy Corporation and 3. the assistant engineer of the Jal Sansthan have been arrested by the police after the negligence against the operator company came to the fore.
In this matter, a report was lodged by village accountant (patwari) of Revenue Department Chamoli at Chamoli police station, on July 20.
On the basis of this complaint, a case was registered against the accused, by Police Station Chamoli under Section 304 of Bhadvi and 13/31 Dangerous Machines Regulation Act 1983.
Superintendent of Police Pramendra Dobal gave detailed information about the incident in a press conference today. It was told that during the investigation, the owners and officials of the joint venture company running the STP plant were grossly negligent in the operation of dangerous electrical equipment.
Contrary to the safety standards, the change over was kept on top of the box and thus the entire sewer treatment plant was being run in a structure made of tinshed and electrically conductive iron metal, which dated 19.07.2023 The heinous crime of human slaughter took place due to leakage of current. In the investigation, serious irregularities have also been found in the contract for the operation and delivery of the STP plant.
Taking quick action by the police team, three accused involved in the incident, were arrested after strict questioning and deliberation is on in involved owner and project manager of the joint venture and other persons involved in the incident. In this case raids are being done at various places against the others wanted.
