Plastic use has banned under the cleanliness week at Joshimath.

Chamoli: Under ‘Swachhta Hi Seva Pakhwada( only cleanliness is service week) and ‘Indian Swachhta League 2.0’, the Municipal Council Joshimath took out a ‘single use plastic funeral march’ on Friday.

The public was made aware about the banned single use plastic and the message was given that single use plastic has come to an end in Joshimath. Polythene carry bags were completely banned in Joshimath by Joshimath Municipality on January 1, 2010. The result is that Joshimath is single-use plastic free. Launched by the Municipality to eliminate single use plastic across the country and save the Himalayas and wildlife. A pledge was also taken to eliminate single use plastic across the country through a funeral procession of plastic waste.
