Plantation campaign will be run on Harela festival in the district-DM
Chamoli: During Harela festival, a massive plantation campaign will be run from 16 July to 15 August in Chamoli district. District Magistrate Himanshu Khurana held a meeting of all the concerned departments Thursday, regarding the preparations for Harela festival. He directed that all the departments should set targets and ensure plantation on a large scale with mutual coordination and public participation along with their protection.
The District Magistrate said that all officers and employees must plant at least one sapling on Harela festival and also take responsibility for its protection. All departments should set their target for massive plantation on Harela festival and make it available to Badrinath Forest Division. So that saplings can be made available from the forest department as per the demand.
Deputy Forest Conservator Sarvesh Kumar Dubey said that Harela festival will be celebrated on 16 July. A massive plantation campaign will be run in the district from 16 July to 15 August. This year the theme of Harela festival has been kept as “Guarding the environment, greenery in every home, bring prosperity and happiness”. He said that 50 percent fruit plants and 50 percent fodder and forest species plants will be planted on Harela festival. This includes amla, kafal, pomegranate, padam, guava, bay leaf, all types of citrus plants including banjh, buransh, atish, harad, behad and other forest species plants. In order to the instructions of the government, all the departments have to complete the target of planting 50 percent saplings from 16 to 18 July. Departments will be given saplings from the Forest and Horticulture Department as per their demand.
