Commendable efforts of the Chief Minister, the paralyzed patient could reached his remote village Dumak by heli ambulance.



Chamoli: A severely paralyzed person, Bhawan Singh, a resident of Dumak, a remote village in Joshimath district Chamoli, Uttarakhand, was for some time undergoing treatment at Rishikesh AIIMS. When his illness was not improve, the doctors advised him to take him home and he was discharged from AIIMS on Wednesday.

Due to the critical condition of the paralyzed patient and Dumak village being about 6 km from the road, it was difficult for patient to walk to reach home by himself, so the family members have demanded a heli ambulance.

When this matter came to the notice of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, in view of the complex and inaccessible circumstances, he directed the District Magistrate of Chamoli, Sandeep Tiwari to arrange a heli ambulance to take the patient home safely. On the instructions of the Chief Minister, the District Magistrate made a special request to the emergency free heli ambulance service of All India Institute of Medical Sciences Rishikesh, operated with the support of the government.

The District Magistrate said that Dumak village is in a very remote area and is located at a walking distance of 06 km from the road. Dr. Madhur Uniyal, Nodal Officer of Heli Ambulance at AIIMS Rishikesh, has made a special case and the patient was sent to Dumak village by heli ambulance on 25 December.

District Disaster Management Officer N.K Joshi said that along with the arrangement of landing of heli ambulance and stretcher in village Dumak, were arranged to take the seriously ill patient to his home and the patient has been taken to his home. The patient’s family expressed their gratitude to Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the medical team of Rishikesh AIIMS and the District Administration Chamoli.
