Badrinath and Hemkunt Sahib Yatra has postponed due to rain alert by 5 September.

Chamoli: According to the forecast issued by the Meteorological Center, Dehradun, there is a possibility of heavy rain in the state from 01 September to 05 September 2025. Due to this, there is a possibility of road blockage and it might increased danger during the journey in many areas of district Chamoli, the roads are often blockage during heavy rain like Kameda, Nandprayag, Pagalnala, Bhanerpani etc.

Therefore, keeping in mind the public safety, the district administration has banned the journey to Shri Badrinath and Shri Hemkund Sahib from 01 September to 05 September 2025 with immediate effect. Although, on 1st September, in district Chamoli rain fall was all day.

District Magistrate Sandeep Tiwari said that this decision has been taken keeping in view the safety of the passengers and pilgrims. The District Magistrate has appealed to the passengers and local citizens to follow the guidelines issued by the administration in view of the adverse weather conditions and avoid unnecessary travel.
