People of eight villages didn’t cast vote, because of long lasting demands of motor road.
Chamoli: First phase of parliamentary election went over in the country including Uttarakhand today Friday, using the constitutional rights, the voters have enthusiastically casted their votes, but the voters of eight villages in district Chamoli kept avoid to themselves from votes.
Eight villages of district Chamoli, boycotted this parliamentary election are Pana, Irani, Devrada, Sakand, Pandav, Pinayi and Valan, mainly the villagers had the demand of motor roads that’s why they didn’t vote, as being frontier district, these villagers don’t have road facility so far.
Villagers had been demanded for moter road for a long time, they correspondence through the letters to the district administration and public representator and many time the villagers sat on strike too but on the assurance of administration they finished strike. When all assurance failed the villagers made up their mind to boycott of parliamentary election. In the Irani village only one voter has voted.
We have made many efforts to convinced to them, with the polling parties we sent departments officers but failed, district election officer, Himanshu Khurana said. In all the three assembly constituency of district, the election went over peacefully.
