On the last day of Harela Week, a seminar was organize at P.G.College.

Chamoli: B.Ed department has organized a seminar Wednesday to conclude the Harela Week (a kind of festival to planting) at the Government Postgraduate College Gopeshwar.

On the last day of Harela week, a seminar was organized titled “Relevance of Harela festival for B.Ed training and contribution to environmental conservation”. The main objective of which was to highlight the aspect of environmental conservation apart from the cultural importance of Harela. Along with celebrating Harela festival in the college, a comprehensive tree plantation campaign was also run during this week, the aim of which was to increase greenery in the college campus and the surrounding area.

The seminar was start with Saraswati Vandana(a pray song to Godess Saraswati) by the student teachers of B.Ed first year. B.ed student Komal, has conducted this seminar and Deepika gave general information about Harela festival. Shivani Rawat told the process of celebrating Harela and how this festival is celebrated with joy and enthusiasm by all the residents of Uttarakhand. Harela is applied by the elders as a blessing to the younger family members. Pratibha told about the importance of Harela festival and how Harela has an important place in the conservation of the environment. The importance of Harela festival was highlighted for B.Ed trainers by student teacher Vijay Joshi. So that students can become sensitive towards their environment.

Prof. Amit Jaiswal told the students about the social and cultural importance of Harela. Prof. Chandravati Joshi told everyone about the culture of Kumaon and highlighted its importance by relating the Harela festival to the society. Prof. Swati Negi, Head of the Department of B.Ed., told the cultural, spiritual and social importance of Harela festival.
