Cow service commission meeting held up at Gopeshwar.

Chamoli: Uttarakhand Go Service(cow service) Commission Chairman Rajendra Anthwal chaired a meeting of the District Destitute Cow Committee at the district headquarters Gopeshwar on Friday.

In the meeting, discussions were held regarding the progress of the cowsheds operating in the district, the progress of the cowsheds, the ear tying of the cow lineage, the installation of radium belts around the neck of the cows roaming on the roads and the action being taken by the police to prevent crime against the cow lineage.

The Chairman of the Go Seva Commission directed all the municipal bodies and district panchayats to expedite the construction of cowsheds, put radium belts on the neck of the cows roaming on the road and take immediate action on the complaints of animal cruelty to the police. He also said that the government is going to make a law in which a provision of punishment will be made on those who leave the animals with fine, and at present only a fine of 2 thousand is imposed. In the construction of Gaushala, the District Panchayat Officer was asked to construct a cowshed according to the 25 years coming in every block for less work at the district panchayat level.

The cowsheds which are under construction will be inaugurated, where institutions have not been selected, institutions should be selected. So that the cowsheds can be provided to them and the cows can be easily facilitated. He said that the state government has made a Go Gram Sevak scheme, in which the animal husband will get 12 thousand rupees per month for raising five Nandis. For this, the animal husband will have to register with the Animal Husbandry Department. The same Chief Development Officer Nandan Kumar directed all the SDMs to ensure the action of installing radium belts to the destitute cows through EO.

In the meeting, Senior Veterinary Officer Puneet Bhatt informed that 3 Gau Sadans have been set up in the district by the Animal Welfare Board, which have been given 23.13 lakh grant by the government in the financial year 2024-25. He said that gaushalas have been constructed in Jyotirmath, Gopeshwar, Gauchar, work is in progress in Pipalkoti, Pokhari and the proposal of Tender in Karnprayag has been sent to urban development.
