Huge debris covered off a car, five pilgrims of Gujrat dead inside.

Rudraprayag: Five people have died in a car under the debris on the Rudraprayag-Gaurikund National Highway on Thursday. The bodies of the five were recovered from inside the badly damaged vehicle on Friday. More than 80 meters of the highway is completely destroyed by landslide, due to this, the traffic could not be restored even on the second day.

The work of clearing debris had started in the landslide-affected part of the highway from 6 am on Friday. Heavy boulders along with debris were being cleared from both sides by JCB machines. A vehicle was also seen while removing the debris at 5 pm. SDRF, DDRF, Police and Home Guard personnel started rescue operation in the affected area and removed the vehicle after clearing the debris. Five bodies were recovered from inside the badly damaged car.

Nandan Singh Rajwar, District Disaster Management Officer, said that the deceased were identified on the basis of photo identity cards found with them. The names of the deceased are Jigar R Modi, Desai Mahesh, Manish Kumar, Mintu Kumar and Pareek Divyansh. All are residents of Gujarat.
