District level officials were awared about BIS standards.

Chamoli: At district headquarter Gopeshwar, a special awareness program was organized by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) on Monday. The objective of the program was to make district level officers and departmental personnel aware of Indian Standards (IS Standards) and to promote compliance with BIS standards to ensure quality and public safety in their areas of work.

Under the guidance of District Magistrate Sandeep Tiwari and chairmanship of Additional District Magistrate Vivek Prakash, the program has organised. Officers from various departments participated enthusiastically in the program. The participants were given detailed information about the need and utility of BIS standards in building construction, road construction, food security, water supply, health services and other public interest related areas.

The keynote speaker of the program, BIS Director Saurabh Tiwari urged all departments to give priority to products bearing ISI mark in departmental purchasing processes, so that the use of quality and safe material can be ensured. He also informed that BIS is continuously organizing workshops in collaboration with various government departments for information and compliance of standards.

Chief Development Officer, Deputy District Magistrates, Project Director, District Development Officer, Chief Education Officer in charge, District Ayurveda Officer, District Unani Officer, District Horticulture Officer along with officers from Public Works Department, Rural Works Department, Irrigation Department, Jal Sansthan, Drinking Water Corporation, Food Security Department, Transport Department, Forest Department, Medical and Health Department, Higher Education Department, Agriculture Department etc. were present in this programme.
