Gopeshwar: Namami Gange Unit of the Government Postgraduate College, Gopeshwar, Chamoli, organized a cleanliness drive to mark the Magh Utsav. The volunteers have cleaned the college campus and its surrounding areas on Wednesday.
College Principal Professor M.P Nagwal, addressing the volunteers, said that the month of Magh marks the beginning of renewed energy, renewed joy, and spiritual energy, and that we should all embrace this positive energy through a cleanliness drive.
Dr. Vidhi Dhoundiyal, co-ordinator of the Namami Gange Unit, explained the relevance of celebrating Magh Utsav, stating that the month of Magh conveys the message of purity, restraint, and virtuous conduct. Taking a bath in Magh is not only a religious ritual but also a symbol of cleanliness.
While we consider rivers sacred, it is our duty to ensure that they remain clean and not pollute them, not to throw plastic or garbage into them. The objective of the Magh month’s purity and cleanliness drive is one, a pure life and a healthy society she added.
