The health of senior citizens under the Atal Vayo Abhyudaya Yojana, a program was organise.

Chamoli: On Friday, Social Welfare Department, district Chamoli has organized a program at the Government Old Age and Disabled Home at Gopeshwar to honor, protect, and safeguard the health of senior citizens under the Atal Vayo Abhyudaya Yojana.
Health Department provided free health checkups and distributed medicines to 30 elderly residents. Various schools of the district have participated in painting, speech, and essay competitions. In the painting competition, Aaradhya Negi from Guru Ram Rai Public School got first place, Aaradhya Bisht won second place, and Anshul from Kendriya Vidyalaya Gopeshwar won third place. In the essay competition, Priyanshi Pundir from Subodh Prem Vidya Mandir won first place, Tamanna from Kendriya Vidyalaya Gopeshwar won second place, and Aditya Pokhriyal from 1008 Geeta Swami Inter College Gopeshwar won third place. In the speech competition, Priyanshi secured first place and Dheeraj secured second place.
The department provided free meals and transportation for the elderly at the event. The elderly explained that the department has been providing benefits under departmental welfare schemes, such as old-age pension, to the elderly from time to time. Free cataract surgeries are also regularly organized for the elderly at the district hospital under the Atal Vayoordha Yojana. To date, cataract surgeries have been performed on 80 elderly people. The department also provided light refreshments and free transportation to and from their residences.
