Delhi: It’s been continuous heavy rains in the country’s capital Delhi for 2 days, increased the concern of the Kejriwal government. CM Arvind Kejriwal has called a high-level meeting on Monday in view of the heavy rains and flood situation in Delhi.
Saurabh Bhardwaj and Atishi Marlena, minister to AAP, along with all senior officers of the Delhi Government, officials of PWD, Flood Control Department and MCD have also been called in this meeting to be held at the Delhi Secretariat. The rising water level of Yamuna is also likely to be discussed in this meeting.
According to reports, the water level of the Yamuna river was recorded at 203.33 meters at Old Railway Bridge in Delhi today at 8 am. Yamuna’s warning level is 204.50 metres. 2.79 lakh cusecs of water has been released into Yamuna river from Hathinikund barrage at 8 am today. The Delhi government on Sunday issued a flood alert after Haryana released more than one lakh cusecs of water from the Hathnikund barrage into the Yamuna river.
In an order issued by the Irrigation and Flood Control Department on Sunday, the first alert was issued after 1,05,453 cusecs of water was released into the Yamuna river from Hathinikund barrage at 4 pm.Normally, the flow rate at the barrage is 352 cusecs, but heavy rains in the catchment areas increase the flow of water. It takes about two to three days for the water from the barrage to reach Delhi.
