Dependent of homeguards dead in electrocution incident, recieved insurance amount.

Chamoli: Today, on the occasion of Independence Day, Chamoli district’s Home Guard Commandant S. K Shahu gave accidental insurance amount checks to the families of Home Guards, Gopal Singh, Sobat Lal and Mukundi Lal, who were martyred at the Namami Gange project site, near Chamoli town in an electrocution accident, 16 people including three homguard  personel had dead on 19/07/2023.

Shahu said that on the day of this incident, tribute was paid to these martyred soldiers by the Honorable Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, as per the instructions to clear the dues of the martyrs, the amount of free accident insurance given in the salary account of the martyrs, was deposited by HDFC and Axis Bank Gopeshwar each. On the instructions of Mr. Kewal Khurana, Commandant General of Home Guards, to provide a check of 30-30 lakhs to the dependent, within a very short span of time of 26 days, on the occasion of Independence Day, 15/08/2023, the checks have provided to the dependents of the Martyr Home Guards. This has happened for the first time in the history of Uttarakhand Home Guards Department. This commendable work of the Home Guards Department is being appreciated by the general public everywhere for getting all the dues to the dependents of the martyrs at a speedy pace.

Dependents have thanked to the district homguard commandent, for his selfless help and said that the commandent have completed all formalities of banks himself and to received the amount of insurance could only possible within a certain short period because of his efforts, otherwise for the common people have to wandered too lot for document formalities. On this occasion branch manager of HDFC Bank Sandeep Singh and manager of Axis Bank Gajendra Singh were also present and said that the personal of police, homeguard and forest departments, who has account in our banks, get the accidental insurance amount for 30 lac rupees, that covers personal accidental insurance.
