Complete the construction work being carried out on the Hemkund Yatra route expeditiously – DM.

Chamoli: Himanshu Khurana, district magistrate Chamoli, has reviewed the infrastructure development works and travel arrangements being carried out on the Hemkund Yatra route on Wednesday.

He directed the implementing agency PWD to expedite the construction work being carried out from Pulna to Bhyundar. The District Magistrate said that the signage, kilometer, hecto, stone work on the Yatra route along with the damaged footpath from the glacier near Bhyundar should be constructed soon. After removing the snow, complete the remaining work of mode improvement and railing installation from Bhyundar to Hemkund before the Yatra season. PMGSY was instructed to repair the damaged sites on the Pulna motor road.

The Electricity Department was asked to repair the power line damaged by snowfall on the Hemkund Yatra route, transfer it to EDC for maintenance and operation of street lights in Ghangaria and prepare a proposal soon for the requirement of street lights on the entire Yatra route. Instructions were given to Jal Sansthan to construct a new drinking water line in place of the dilapidated drinking water line in Bhyundar, make arrangements for water ATMs on the route and to keep a plan ready for its operation during the travel season. The Tourism Department was asked to make arrangements for the repair, maintenance and cleanliness of the toilets on the travel route along with Sulabh. Instructions were given to BRO to complete the construction work of stairs for pedestrians near Hotel Bhakt soon.
