In distt Chamoli, beekeeping is making strong base for the economy of farmers.

Chamoli: Under the leadership of Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Pushkar Singh Dhami, beekeeping in the state has started becoming a strong base for the economy of farmers.

The small level business, beekeeping, farmers are increasing their income at low cost. Under the government-run beekeeping scheme in district Chamoli, there are 505 farmers producing honey by beekeeping.

PDO Chamoli, Yogesh Bhatt of Horticulture Department said that the beekeeping scheme is being operated by the state government with the intention of increasing the income of farmers. Under which bee colonies (boxes) are being provided by the government on 40 percent government assistance.

Along with giving seven-day training of beekeeping to the farmers applying in the scheme, an incentive amount of Rs 1050 is also being provided. Told that beekeeping is being done with 505 farmers of Chamoli district by the Horticulture Department. He informed that the farmers are currently producing about 249.48 quintals of honey by beekeeping. The farmers are marketing it at the rate of Rs. 1200 per kilogram and earning a good income.
