The hybrid quality seeds must be provided to the farmers of the district -DM.

Chamoli: District magistrate Chamoli, Sandeep Tiwari has chaired a review meeting Thursday of the works that Agriculture and Horticulture Department doing under the District Plan for the farmers belongs to the agriculture sector.

District Magistrate, while taking information about the works done by the Agriculture and Horticulture Department, asked the officials to emphasize on increasing the quality and production of seeds.

During the meeting, he expressed satisfaction over the innovative works being done by the Agriculture Department, and instructed the Agriculture Officer to provide quality seeds to the farmers for the protection of the fields and increase in production under the District Plan.

Agriculture Officer J.P Tiwari said that under the District Plan, works worth Rs 113 lakh have been done as against the amount of Rs 200 lakh released to the department. While other works are in progress.

The works like agricultural security, seed distribution, development of irrigation area are being done under the scheme, agriculture office added. Devi Prasad Dangwal from the Horticulture Department said that an amount of Rs 36.01 lakh has been spent as against the amount of Rs 205 lakh released to the department under the scheme. Giving information, he said that under the scheme, works of food processing, vegetable seed distribution, poly house construction and flower production are being done.
