College Applauds History Professor’s Landmark Book on Gopeshwar & Rudranath.

Chamoli: The academic community at Gopeshwar College in Uttarakhand is celebrating the publication of a major work by Dr. Shivchand Singh Rawat, a professor in the History Department.

His book, Historical Study and Religious Significance of Gopeshwar and Rudranath, explores the deep cultural and spiritual heritage of Gopeshwar and Rudranath the fourth Kedar among the Panch Kedars of Uttarakhand. Published by Samay Sakshya in Dehradun, the volume details the Rudranath Temple’s history, its winter seat at Gopeshwar, district headquarter of Chamoli and the famed pilgrimage route with stops at Pung, Moli Khark, Lwinti, and Panar Bugyal.

The book also highlights sacred sites such as Saraswati Kund, Narada Kund, Vaitarni Kund, Surya Kund, Jyotirlinga, and Bhima’s Mace, alongside Gopeshwar’s temples dedicated to Chamunda, Chandika, Varahi Devta, Jakh Devta, Hanuman, Ganesh, Navdurga, Agni Dev, and more.

Principal Prof. M.P. Nagwal expressed delight at the release, saying the book will serve as a valuable resource for devotees, students, and readers keen to understand the historical and religious significance of the region.
