Medical College land illegally mined and converted it into mining leas.

Kotdwar: The area of Kotdwar Bhabar, the land allotted for the medical college was excavated by the mafia by illegal mining. The illegal mining on 192 bighas of land, allotted to the Medical Education Department, have been formed 15 to 20 feet deep pits.

After the matter of mining revealed in the departmental inquiry, the government has instructed the DM of Pauri to immediately stop illegal mining and take action. The miners, 70 percent of the boundary wall built around the land has been demolished.

The State Government had sanctioned Government Medical College in Kotdwar area in the past, for its construction, government land in Lakshampur of Kalal Valley was identified and allotted to the Medical Education Department. A budget of four crores was approved for the medical college, during the Congress govt, and boundary wall and tube well work was done in the selected land. But now even the tubewell is not visible.

The work of illegal mining has been confirmed in the report submitted by the Assistant Engineer of the Medical Education Department to the Department of inspection of the land. The medical college could not be built on the allotted government land, but the mafia successfully converted it into a mining lease. The Medical Education Department has written a letter to District Magistrate Pauri for quick action in the matter.
