Officers and Employees Were Provided Information on Safe Internet Use in a workshop.

Chamoli: The National Informatics Center (NIC), Chamoli, organized an awareness workshop on “Safer Internet Day” on Tuesday. In the meeting, departmental officers and employees were made aware of safe internet use, cybersecurity, and digital responsibility.
Including officers and employees, a large number of participant from various departments and students, participated in the workshop held in the Collectorate auditorium. The workshop was organized under the theme “Smart Tech, Safe Choices – Exploring the Safe and Responsible Use of AI.” Experts provided detailed information on safe and responsible internet use.
Sushila, the District Informatics Officer provided detailed information on phishing websites, OTP/UPI fraud, online investment fraud, risks associated with crypto projects, fake calls and online scams, challenges such as misuse of AI and deepfakes, and privacy and data security.
Additional District Information Science Officer Mr. Vishes Chandra gave important suggestions for adopting safe digital behavior in the workshop. He gave information about the use of two-way authentication, caution against suspicious links and QR codes, avoiding the use of public WiFi, updating software and banking apps from time to time, taking cyber hygiene courses and online safety training, fact checking and digital vigilance.
Subject experts in the program said that the correct use of AI can be helpful in health, education, security and increasing efficiency. But it is very important to avoid its misuse. In case of cyber crime, citizens were also informed about registering a complaint on the cybercrime.gov.in portal and contacting the helpline number 1930.
