An electrocution killed 16 people and left 9 injured at Namami Gange Project site.
Chamoli: A huge incident occurred due to a sudden spread of electric wave at Namami Gange project site, at river bank of Alaknanda in Chamoli district on Wednesday, that caused 16 people death and 9 injured, 6 serious injured refered to AIIMS Rishikesh by airplane for further treatment.
The district and police administration reached at the spot soon, getting the information of this incident and they rapidly run rescue work and rushed the injured to the district hospital Gopeshwar, in this incident 16 people dead including one police SI and three homguard and 6 seriously injured, refered to AIIMS Rishikesh by airplane while 3 light injured are under the treatment at district hospital. The health minister, Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat also reached at the incident spot and than he visited district hospital to see the injured and rescue work.
The chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has given instruction to give 5lack rupees to the dependents of each deceased and 1 lack rupees to each injured in this incident, the health minister Dhan Singh Rawat told to press. He also said that the government will give free treatment to the injured and for the investigation, DM Chamoli has ordered to ADM and whoever found guilty in this incident, a strict action lodged upon them.
A eye vitness told that there were around 25-30 people gathered at the Namami Gange project complex Chamoli, at around 11AM there was a sudden blast heard from a site and the people fell down one by one and they fainted it was a heavy electric wave ran on the earth. Most of them had dead because of heavy electric sock and some injured.
