DM Chamoli has reviewed the plans of animal and husbandry dept.

Chamoli: Sandeep Tiwari, district magistrate of district Chamoli has reviewed the plans of the Animal Husbandry Department on Monday. He directed the CVO(Chief Veterinary Officer) to visit Goat Valley of block Tharali this week to inspect the work done there, as well as to make a proposal for a hatchery in District.

He also expressed displeasure over the slow progress of the plan, and directed the CVO, Assistant Registrar, and Veterinary Officer to monitor it, and said that Goat Valley is an ambitious project, provide complete details of its plan through a presentation in the next meeting. He also directed the CVO to the Senior Veterinary Officer of Tharali and the Assistant Registrar to seek clarification from the Secretaries of Tharali, Harmani, and Dungri.

DM, Tiwari has also directed the Assistant Director Dairy to make a plan for goat milk in the district plan. During this, CVO Aseem Dev said that the Goat Valley plan is being run by the Animal Husbandry Department in Tharali. Under this scheme ten plus one goat unit is made available to the beneficiaries in which 10 percent of the total cost of Rs. 70 thousand i.e. Rs. 7 thousand is borne by the beneficiary. At the same time a loan of Rs. 30 thousand is provided for three plus one unit by Sheep and Goat Cooperative Society Ltd. The objective of this scheme is to form a group of goat units of minimum 100 beneficiaries, so that animals can be available at one place and this can make animal management and animal product marketing more profitable. He told that at present 85 beneficiaries have been linked with this scheme.
